About Ethical Culture Fieldston School

The Ethical Culture Fieldston School is committed to academic excellence, ethical learning, and progressive education through a rich and challenging curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A coed, nonsectarian school, ECF serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students from PreK to grade 12 on two campuses — one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, and the other in Manhattan. The school was founded in 1878 by Felix Adler, philosopher and humanist, who declared, “The ideal of the school is to develop individuals who will be competent to change their environment to greater conformity with moral ideals.”
